Movik’s Content Aware Edge (CAE) is a purpose-built carrier-class product designed to be deployed between the Radio Access Network (RAN) and the packet core in 3G and 4G mobile networks. Based on a foundation of subscriber and real-time network awareness, the CAE delivers:
- Intelligent content and application scheduling and delivery
- Policy driven traffic management and steering
The Movik solution is comprised of the following components:
Content Aware Edge (CAE). The Content Aware Edge (CAE) has built-in native awareness of device type, subscriber, network conditions, including RAN congestion as well as content and application type. Its unique position in the network allows it to have access to the information at the RAN and content layer simultaneously, and thus prevents the need for complex integration with external databases, policy servers, and other network elements.
With the native subscriber and RAN awareness information, the Movik CAE is able to construct a highly accurate model of the subscriber, the content, and the network, upon which to build the intelligent application scheduling and traffic steering functions.
The Movik CAE natively supports all 3G access technologies including HSPA (including Direct Tunnel), HSPA+, CDMA, and LTE.
Policy and Personalization Engine (PPE). Movik’s Policy and Personalization Engine (PPE) provides a full-functioned element management system responsible for centralized Fault, Configuration, Alarm, Performance, and Security management of the CAE and Service Plane Exchange (SPX) products. In addition, it also comes with an optional Reporting and Analysis module that provides detailed visibility into subscriber behavior and application and content profiles.
Service Plane Exchange (SPX). Deployed in the service plane, the Service Plane Exchange (SPX)is a centralized, umbrella element that enables service plane integration with various external service plane elements within the operator’s network – such as, AAA/RADIUS servers, pre-paid and postpaid charging and billing elements, policy servers (PCRF), Legal Intercept (LI) servers, and Content Filtering solutions.
